Good Morning Everyone. Sorry I wasn’t back yesterday to post about my vacation, being away from work for 8 days makes it a little hard to blog during lunch. But, enough about excuses, let’s get onto the recap! Gregg and I spent a total of 9 days on vacation. The first part of our vacation consisted of spending 5 days in San Diego. We ended up staying with my brother who lives out there and got a few pictures of us together thanks to him!
Here we are at Mission Beach. This beach is awesome, the waves rock if you are a surfer and the overall atmosphere is very chill and laid back.

Here we are at the Oceanside Beach. Of course it was cloudy and kind of cold, so I didn’t get to swim in the ocean this time around. This beach was less crowded than Mission Beach, but it still had a very calm feeling to it.

While we were in San Diego, we ventured out to a few places like Coyote, Dino’s, Rockin Baja, and Old Town. Old Town is this restored part of San Diego. It has a very western feel and look to it. While in Old Town, my brother took us to a place called O Hungry’s for a drink. Little did I know what was coming….. a half yard beer! But, I figured why not. After all, we were on vacation so I didn’t care. Here we are with our 1/2 yard beers… mine’s a blue moon!

After our 5 days in San Diego it was time to say goodbye. We actually rented a car and drove from San Diego to Las Vegas. Have you ever driven through Nevada with a convertible? If you haven’t, keep it that way. It was HOT! Obviously, I knew it would be hot, being in the desert and everything but this was hotter than I thought it would be! Half way through the trip, we had to stop to put the top up because I couldn’t take it anymore. But, needless to say after 4 1/2 hours of driving we checked into our hotel room at the Bellagio and had this for a view:

We actually got lucky enough to have a view of the water show. The water show is amazing and an easy way to forget about everything going on around you. If you haven’t seen it before, this is a must while you are in Vegas. And you cannot go to Vegas without seeing Paris! Here is the Paris Hotel at night:

During our days in Vegas, we walked A LOT and took in the many sites it has to offer. Here is the Wynn and Encore Hotel. Last time I was in Vegas (for my 21st) the Encore wasn’t there. Things sure do change fast in Vegas.

Here’s me outside the Wynn Hotel:

Not only did we stay at the Bellagio, we also stayed at TI and here is the view from our window there:

While in Vegas, we decided to have 1 day/night where money wasn’t an issue. We started our day with a meal at the Mesa Grill. But, Bobby Flay is my favorite and going to his restaurant was a must! So, I clearly started off with a glass of white wine. After we were seated, our waiter brought us a basket of fresh bread. There were 3 types of bread: walnut raisin, jalapeno and a blue cornbread muffin.

Take a look at the cornbread muffin, it was so light and fluffy: TO DIE FOR!

I ended up getting 2 items off the menu. The first was the Tortilla Soup. I was a little worried about this because after I ordered it the lady sitting next to us was complaining about how spicy it was. But, when it was brought to the table, I dug right in! This soup was sooo good! I will admit it was a little spicy, but the avocado in the soup brought a nice cool down to it!

The next item I ordered was the Mesa Burger. I know that Bobby Flay is the grill master so I knew this would not disappoint! My verdict: the best burger I have ever had! It was huge as you can tell so I didn’t finish it all. But the fries were southwestern fries. They had a nice spice rub on them that made them melt in your mouth. Overall, a great lunch/dinner.

After lunch/dinner, we headed back to our hotel to get ready to go out! Our first stop was to see a Cirque Du Souel show. We decided to see Zumanity. A word of advice, if you are not comfortable with sex and talking about it, do not see this show. I could tell some people there were a little uncomfortable, but I was fine! The show was hilarious and very tasteful (in most parts).

After the show, we decided to go to the Rumjungle for a few drinks.

Can you see why it’s called the Rumjungle? All of those bottle behind us are basically all rum! I had no idea they made that many kinds. After our night at the Rumjungle, we went to a bar called Minus 5. I do have a picture, but I have to scan it in. I will post later and explain that to everyone!

After Minus 5 we grabbed a bite to eat, hit up the Casinos and were off to bed around 3:30a. True Vegas Style. But, after I long night, it was time to say goodbye to our hotel. We ended up having a really late flight so we had all day to walk around Vegas and see a few more things. We once again traveled to the New York New York, here are a few pics of that:

After the New York New York, We went to the MGM Grand.

Look how big and scary the lion outside looks!

And look how sweet and innocent the lion inside looks:

We also got to visit the Excalibur. This hotel is okay, but it is more for people with children.

As we walked down the strip we stopped at the M&M store and someone was nice enough to take our picture.

While in Vegas I also bought myself a new Coach Purse:

After all that, we headed home at 11:30 at night and got back to Milwaukee at 5:00 AM! Boy were we tired, but the trip was totally worth it. I hope you enjoyed my recap and that it didn’t bore you too much! Have a great day

I’m definitely a little jealous, even though my wife and I were in Vegas a little more than a month ago. One of our favorite regional cuisines is southwest, so we also always make sure we stop at Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill. And seeing pictures of the blue corn muffin remind me why I love Vegas.
Welcome back! LOVE that bag
Thanks for taking those shots from Mesa Grill – so interesting, and those corn muffins look amazing!
Looks like you had a great time–glad to have you back!
It looks like you had a fantastic time! I think we may have been in Vegas at the same time – FUN! I still have to do my recap though
What a fabulous recap! Love the big M&M……
