Hi Everyone! I have recently been asked to explain why I do what I do and how I lost the weight that I did. So, I figured I would tell you my story including the weight gain, weight loss and how I am maintaining it. So, let’s get started!
In grade school, weight was never really an issue for me. I never looked at myself and thought wow, I need to drop some weight! I was also really active, so I actually ate whatever I wanted and never gave it a second thought! At the time, if I was hungry I ate whatever I could find even if it was something really unhealthy. This type of behavior carried with me to high school. But, I was always pretty active, so I never really thought anything of it. I also have no clue what I weighed in high school because we never had a scale growing up! I do know when I started high school, I wore a size 5 or 6. But, along with everything that came with high school also came the first long-term boyfriend. Him and I started dating when I was a sophomore and was my boyfriend all through high school. I got to the point where I was comfortable around him and ate just like him. However, my body wasn’t like his. He really could eat everything and never gain any weight from it. However, this is not how my body worked. I ate and it showed. But, I never really noticed it until I saw a picture from 2000. I actually don’t even remember taking this photo, but my friend Michelle gave it to me in a frame with a picture of us then and one of us now. All I can say is HUGE difference. So, here is me and Michelle in High School:
When I left High School in 2003, I was a size 10. Again, I never thought anything of it and just kept doing what I was doing. After high school, I started college and joined a sorority right of way! This was the best thing I did Freshman year! I met so many new people and really wanted to spread my wings! But, when I was busy doing that, my boyfriend and I grew apart so we broke up about 3 months into my first semester after dating for almost 3 years. So, I did what any single college girl would do. I paid attention to my college work and partied like a rock star! My friends and I went out a lot and we had a ton of fun! And, with the drinking came the 3am calls to Toppers Pizza! After my freshman year of college, I met Gregg. Him and are started dating and I moved back to Milwaukee and started going to college at UWM instead of Whitewater. My partying pretty much came to a hault, but my weight didn’t reflect that. I stayed at a size 10-12 until my Senior year of College. I was looking back at photos of Halloween and came across this one:
And then, I came across this photo of me from late December 2006:
This is when I knew it was time to change. I started weight watchers in February 2007 and was determined to get down to a reasonable size for my brothers wedding. When I joined, I was determined and followed the plan to a tee and it paid off. My clothes started to fit better, and people could actually notice the change! I went from a size 10-12 in February to a size 2 in July, just in time for my brothers wedding (the girls at the rehearsal dinner:
And, just to throw another one in there, here is a pic of me and my best 2 girls in March of 2008:
So, to sum it all up, I owe all of my success to weight watchers. I started this blog to show people how I eat and hope maybe they can get ideas from me if they are trying to lose weight. I try to eat different foods and I try a lot of new things too! When I first stepped on that scale in February of 2007, I almost died when it said 171!!! But, now, when I step on it I don’t have that sinking feeling, it’s always a “wow, I did it!” Type of feeling!!! So, for your final viewing pleasure: here is a side by side pic of me before and now:
